Home is where?

Suitcases organized again!
"There's no place like home"...... "Home is where the heart is." These familiar quotes have crossed my mind many times over the last 9 months. We left Yei, South Sudan (our home for 4+ years) on July 11th, 2016.  A back pack and small suitcase each held what seemed valuable at the time - our home away from home. - little did we know our leaving Yei would begin a long journey to find our next home!

We found ourselves restless - although God was faithful to provide all that we needed, unlike our South Sudanese brothers and sisters who were leaving their homes in South Sudan due to insecurity and food shortages. They would begin again on borrowed land, often filled with past memories, trauma and pain.

Since July 2016 we have experienced many wonderful times and have made many memories that refreshed and restored us along the way.  Talk about "WAITING," we have done much of that - days, weeks, months. Uncertain where we were headed but TRUSTING the ONE who called us on this journey. Have you ever been on a similar journey?

The blessings of the journey have been many - watching the resilience of our friends in Rhino Camp in northern Uganda; catching up with friends, family, and supporters; inviting many in the US to join in prayer for South Sudan and its people; visiting Kenyan friends and family, especially Mark, Kenzi, Emma and Will (born December 14th, 2016) as we filled in at Maua Methodist Hospital for 5 weeks in February 2017 during a national doctor's strike. And the challenges have been life changing.  In fact I think God has been teaching us to TRUST him in all things - and he is more interested in the PROCESS of life than the actual OUTCOME.

FAST FORWARD 8 MONTHS....we submitted all the documents to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council for our Medical Licenses in mid-March 2017, with an invitation from Medical Teams International (MTI) to work at Moyo District Hospital in Moyo, the referral hospital for this community and from Palorinya Refugee Settlement Camps nearby. We moved to Moyo on March 27th and unpacked all these suitcases! What a blessings that has been!  The Medical Licenses were approved today, April 12th; we will get started in medical work tomorrow.
